Bio-Information System Laboratory(BISL), a national research laboratory designated in 2005, is developing innovative information technologies for bio-medical challenges.

Current topics of research and education include bioinformatics, medical informatics, neuro-informatics, data mining, deep learning, blockchains and systems biology. Especially it is leading a national research project called 'Bio-Synergy Research Project', where systemic effects of drugs and functional foods are analyzed with knowledge-based virtual human systems along with orchestrated assays of cell-based, animal-based, and human-based experiments. BISL is fostering passionate leaders creating new industries in the bio-medical fields.
